Lynn Luker has been appointed as a panel member to the Perry Dampf mediation and arbitration panels. Q: How does one end up being appointed to this position?
A: It is a decision that’s made at the Louisiana Supreme Court level. I’m pretty amazed that I ended up receiving this appointment because they come up very, very infrequently, and there’s a lot of competition, as you might imagine. It’s a pretty spectacular gift to have this opportunity.

In addition to raising five children, Luker has owned her own firm, Lynn Luker & Associates, LLC, since 1999.
“I had been at Adams and Reese for 18 years, starting as an associate in the maritime section, and was very happy there” Luker says. “In 1999 one of my clients acquired a company that triggered a conflict with another of the firm’s clients. We unfortunately had to terminate the relationship with my client. That client then asked me to start my own firm.”
Fifty honorees for the 2014 class of CityBusiness “Women of the Year” have been chosen, and they will be the guests of honor at an event highlighting their professional and community achievements.

Lynn Luker — litigator, law firm owner and co-director of Tulane Law School’s Trial Advocacy program — is being honored with a 2014 Human Rights Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association. Luker, who holds three Tulane Law degrees (L ’81, LLM '85, LLM ’92), is nationally recognized as an National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms attorney and leader in making the legal profession more inclusive. She chairs the (NAMWOLF) Board of Directors and serves as a diversity trainer for the LSBA.
The bar association award recognizes Luker’s many contributions to ensuring “the full and equal opportunity of all persons for entry and advancement” in the profession. Presentation of the award is set for June 5 at the LSBA Annual Meeting General Assembly in San Destin, Fla.
“Lynn truly deserves this recognition,” Tulane Law School Dean David Meyer said. “No one works harder or more selflessly to make our profession stronger and more inclusive.”
